B. BARCELONA BUS TOUR (BUS TURÍSTIC)

The Bus Turístic in Barcelona is the ultimate sightseeing experience! I’ve been on it at least three times, twice as a student and once with my mom. It’s the best way to see the biggest and best sights of Barcelona without the hassle of taking public transportation. You pay one fee, you get to sit down, and they explain the facts about the sights in Barcelona that you might not have known if you just went by your self. You can get on and off when you want, taking your sightseeing at your own pace. And there is a stop right outside your You-Stylish Barcelona apartment! This is a must if you really want to take advantage of what Barcelona has to offer. Tickets can be purchased right on the bus.

C. THE BEACH

So you have chosen a rental apartment by the beach. Good choice. Now its time to enjoy it! Barcelona beaches have more than just the sea and sun. The beach stretches all the way past the center of the city of Barcelona with a long boardwalk which is usually filled with great seafood restaurants, chiringuitos (beach bars), dance clubs, volley ball nets, some playing areas for children, and street performers. Also in the Barceloneta area, which is closer to the center of the city, you can find some specialty grocery and souvenir shops. Did you know that there is even a hospital on the beach? It’s located in the Barceloneta area and it is one of the best hospitals in Barcelona. One quick tip: Make sure to keep watch of your things when you are on the beach as there are pickpockets. The best thing to do is not bring valueables on the beach altogether. Some other things that you can expect to see in the beach are people selling beer and refreshments, massages, henna tatoos, and other things. These people usually walk around in the beaches toward the center of the city. If you don’t want to be bothered, your You Stylish apartment is in the best area to the left of the city.

D. EL MARESME FÒRUM

This modern work, the Maresme Fòrum was built by Jaques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron, Swiss architects, to house conventions and concerts. The truth is that people either love the Forum, or they hate the forum’s modern and geometric design. Looking like a looming blue slice of cheese glinting in the sunlight, the inside of the building holds various geometric holes in the ceiling playing with light glinting off the ceiling’s and wall’s mirrors. It has a bit of the feel of a funhouse, but in any case, the biggest names almost always play here. If you get a chance, it’s worth visiting the building whether or not you like modern art or Beyonce concerts. Around the Forum there are some magnificent spaces by the sea. Generally empty, these places are great places to walk around in if you want to be alone or just want some peace and quiet.

E. SELVA DE MAR METRO STOP

Taking the metro in Barcelona is fairly easy. The metro lines are numerical and color coordinated. The trains pass by every 3-5 minutes or so. Your best bet is to find a metro map (they are usually small enough to fit in a wallet) from the You Stylish Barcelona office, from the metro attendants when they are available, or from any other tourist information office. On the map that we leave in your You Stylish apartment, it usually has a metro map on the backside. The Selva de Mar metro stop is great because it takes you right into the heart of the city on the one yellow line. If you want to go anywhere else, taking the same yellow line will take you to any transfers that you need like the green line to get to Parc Guëll, or the blue to get to la Sagrada Familia. This can really be your key to affordable transportation in Barcelona. Make sure to buy a T-10 and save some money. This T-10 also works for the tram that takes you to the Parc de la Ciutadella and the Barcelona Zoo directly. The tram is great to take with kids and if you have some time to enjoy the sights.

F. TORRE AGBAR

This building is beautiful both day and night. Although it isn’t opened to the public (because it houses the offices of the Agbar group), it is a great place to take pictures and to check out. There is Les Glories shopping mall just across the street if you want to get lunch and shop, and at night, the hotel Agbar which is right next to the Agbar Tower is a romantic place to enjoy the tower’s beauty and to have a drink.
