Festival L’Hora del Jazz

As the name suggests, it involves free local jazz acts on daytime for three weeks in public spaces such as Gràcia’s Plaça Vila de Gràcia, the best time to go, is Sunday afternoons!

Diada Nacional de Catalunya

Catalan National Day is a whole-day festival that commemorates the fall of the fall of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714. On September 11th there are marches all over Barcelona, especially in the city centre where the statue of Rafael Casanova, who directed the resistance, is on Ronda Sant Pere.

Festes de la Mercè

A way to honour the patron saint of the city, Our Lady of Mercy, in a week-long festival which includes more than 600 events from  ‘sardanas‘ which is a musical genre typical of Catalan culture and ¨correfocs¨ which are a kind of fireworks displays in a super unique way.

Festa Major de la Barceloneta

This maritime community throws their local fiestas at the end of September-beginning of October. It starts with fireworks at the beach and dancing along to some ‘Sardana’ and tasting a crispy coca bread, which is part of the tradition, with some muscatel. It lasts about ten days, and you can expect fire-breathing dragons, endless parades and lots of family-friendly events, especially for children.
