Barcelona in February: 5 romantic and cultural plans beyond Valentine’s Day

1) Llum Bcn: Poblenou at night (6-8 February 2026).

If you enjoy unhurried walks and discovering light installations and urban art along the way, Llum BCN is the perfect plan. It takes place in Poblenou and around Plaça de les Glòries, and the best part is that you can design your own route depending on your energy and time.

YouStylish tip: choose a short route (two or three standout installations plus dinner) or go all in with a longer walk, photo stops and something warm to drink along the way. Comfortable shoes and a good coat are essential. It is an outdoor plan, but absolutely worth it.

2) Santa Eulàlia festivities: Traditional culture in Ciutat Vella ( 11-15 february 2026). 

If you want to see Barcelona in traditional mode, this is the city’s winter festival. You will usually come across giants, sardana dancing, castellers and correfocs in very central locations. The heart of the celebrations is often around Plaça Sant Jaume, making it easy to combine with a walk through the Gothic Quarter and an afternoon snack in El Born.

3) Bcnegra: The Noir Festival (2-8 february 2026). 

Barcelona has a cinematic side, and BCNegra makes the most of it. Talks, round tables, film screenings and literary events, often free, come together to create a great late afternoon and evening plan. Ideal if you are in the mood for culture with atmosphere, without it feeling like “museum and straight home”.

Tip: choose one event, have dinner nearby (Paral·lel or Gràcia are usually good options) and finish with a low-lit cocktail. Very noir. Very Barcelona.

4) Candlelight: Concerts by candlelight.

If you are looking for something romantic without being overly sentimental, Candlelight concerts work beautifully. Live music in elegant venues, candlelit settings and that shared silence in the audience that gives you goosebumps. Pick a programme you both enjoy, whether film soundtracks, classical music or pop tributes, and the evening is sorted.

5) A romantic route without clichés: Born + Eixample.

For a neighbourhood-style plan, combine El Born, with its narrow streets, independent shops and natural wine bars, with the Eixample, known for its architecture, galleries and inviting cafés.

Quick suggestion: afternoon coffee or dessert in El Born, a walk towards Arc de Triomf or Ciutadella Park if the weather is good, then head to the Eixample for dinner.
