America’s Cup Barcelona 2024
Barcelona has been chosen to welcome the oldest sailing competition, with 174 years of history.
The city’s past as host of the 1992 Olympic Games, as well as its magnificent location next to the waters of the Mediterranean, makes Barcelona the best destination for an event of the stature of the America's Cup.
More than 5,600 people have registered as volunteers for the 2024 Barcelona America's Cup to support an event that will host the world's most prestigious yacht clubs.
America’s Cup 2024 Dates & Location
The Barcelona America's Cup will be held between August and October 2024 with several events culminating in a final match race in October.
The official opening ceremony for the 37th America's Cup Barcelona will be held on August 22, while the Match Race Final will take place from October 12 to 17.
The Port Vell area will serve as the heart of the action, housing team bases and the bustling America's Cup Race Village. Positioned strategically for optimal viewing, spectators can enjoy the races from viewing platforms along the beach, ensuring an unparalleled vantage point.
America’s Cup Racing Schedule
The Barcelona America's Cup regatta schedule includes several preliminary races, the Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals, and finals, as well as other parallel sailing events, ending with the Match Race Final.
- 20 to 25 August - Preliminary Regatta Barcelona
- 29 August to 11 September – Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robin
- 14 to 23 September – Louis Vuitton Cup Semi Final
- 26 September to 7 October – Louis Vuitton Cup Final
- 10 to 26 September – Unicredit Youth America’s Cup
- 28 September to 13 October – Puig Women’s America’s Cup
- 12 to 27 October – Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match Race Final
The Louis Vuitton Cup, scheduled for September 2024, is a crucial stage that determines which team gets to challenge the Defender for the ultimate prize. Only the top four teams get to participate in the first-to-five-points Semi-Final, and from there, only two winners advance to the Final Match Race.
Whichever team scores seven points will go head-to-head with Emirates Team New Zealand, the Defender of the Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup, in an adrenaline-pumping 13-race match.
In addition to these races, female and youth teams from around the globe will be showcasing their skills at the UniCredit Youth & Puig Women's America's Cup events.
America’s Cup Teams in 2024
The teams participating in the Barcelona America’s Cup 2024 are the Emirates Team New Zealand, defending last edition’s title, the INEOS Britannia (UK), Alinghi Red Bull Racing (Switzerland), Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Italy), the American Magic New York Yacht Club (USA) and the Orient Express Racing Team (France).
The America's Cup Experience in Barcelona
In addition to the exciting racing, sailing fans can immerse themselves in the history and technological wonders of the America's Cup at the official exhibition America’s Cup Experience.
Open seven days a week, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, this exhibition is a must-see for all sailing enthusiasts and curious minds. Here, fans and visitors will have an opportunity to delve into the history of the America’s Cup and the amazing technology behind the participating boats.

The Barcelona America’s Cup can be watched from the Moll de la Fusta dock in Port Vell, as well as from the beaches of Barcelona.
Access to the Race Village is completely free throughout all America’s Cup events. Besides watching the races, you can also enjoy sailor presentations from the main stages, food and drink options, and daily activities sponsored by teams.
For those who prefer a more private viewing experience, there will be specific areas for yachts and small boats around the perimeter of the racing area, but it’s important to register beforehand.
